It’s been one of those days.
Do you ever have one of those days where things are going great and then you spill your coffee on your white shirt on the way out of the door?
What is your typical reaction to that?
Have you ever stopped to think that not everyone responds the same to those situations? Can you think of some typical responses too this situation?
Negative self talk? Anger outburst? Stuff it? Take it out on someone that has no idea what’s going on?
What about some positive responses? Do you have a system in place to help you quickly move through everyday stress?
What is it that positive people do that helps them get through that stress with ease?
Everyday stress effects all of us. There are many things to consider when looking at how you handle it. You must first consider if you have any life events that are adding to your stress. Moving, change in job or relationship, death, health issues and things like that. After you have evaluated this you have to ask yourself if you typically handle things well or not.
Here are 3 simple things you can do to quickly move through a stressful situation.
First, ask yourself is this something that I have any control over? If the answer is no. Let it go. If the answer is yes, ask yourself if it needs to be addressed right now?
Second, focus on something positive. So for instance, if you are sitting stuck in traffic because of a car accident in front of you, say out loud that you are thankful that you are not the one in the car accident.
Third, ask yourself if there is something positive that you can do with the negative energy you feel? In other words, do the opposite of what your negative emotion would want you to do.
I practice these three steps a lot. I hope you find them useful. This my friends is how you can find inspiration, right where you are!
